"Life is pain. There is too much to endure." It only took a few hours for multiple online videos of the gunman who killed two schoolchildren and injured 17 others, including 14 children, in a church in Minnesota, in the northern United States, on Wednesday, August 27. Around 8:30 a.m. local time (4:30 p.m. in France), a man carrying three weapons opened fire in a church adjacent to a Catholic school in Minneapolis. Dozens of children were there to attend a mass, organized to celebrate the start of the school year.
[…]The shooter committed suicide in front of the church. He was identified as Robin Westman, a 23-year-old transgender youth who was born a man. According to the local newspaper The Star Tribune, Robin Westman was known as Robert Westman in 2019, but changed his name because he identified as a woman. His mother had to take steps because he was still a minor at the time of the incident.
[…]A drawing also shows him from behind, carrying an assault rifle slung over his shoulder and a pistol on his hip, looking at himself in a mirror. The reflection shows a horned, visibly diabolical creature. Later in the video, we can see a map he sketched, showing an aerial view of what appears to be the layout of the church. A crucifix is drawn where the platform is located, and the various entrances to the building are symbolized by incoming and outgoing arrows. He then stabs his sketch with a knife. Also stuck on the notebook are stickers of the video game character Luigi, and one of a Kalashnikov assault rifle against the backdrop of an LGBT and transgender flag.
This notebook is actually Robin Westman's manifesto. This young woman with long red hair actually wrote several pages in English, in which he addresses, first, his parents, his brothers and sisters, and then his friends. He apologizes for the "storm of chaos" he was about to unleash, explaining that he does not expect any forgiveness. "Please know that I care about you," he writes. "To my mother and father, I am sorry that I did not become what you hoped. You gave me so much, and I appreciate the love you gave me. You raised me to be a good person," he continues. "Please do not think that I have failed in your role as parents." "I have been corrupted by this world and taught to hate life," it continues. According to him, "life is pain. There is too much to endure. I am tired of this pain." He talks about "miserable jobs," "injustices," "constant bills," and a cancer he allegedly suffers from because of "vaping." "I don't want to end my life rotting in a hospital bed."
[…]Finally, he drops bullets onto his sheet, before filming a cardboard target depicting the face of Jesus Christ. The FBI has opened an investigation into a "terrorist act and hate crime targeting Catholics." Donald Trump said Wednesday that he had been "fully informed" of the "tragic" attack. "The White House will continue to monitor this terrible situation," he added on his Truth Social platform. In a statement, the US president then asked that flags be flown at half-mast until August 31.

The Minneapolis school shooter who killed two children and injured at least 17 others has been identified – as law enforcement investigates a possible manifesto posted online, sources confirmed to The Post.
The gunman who killed two children and wounded 17 others during Mass at Annunciation Catholic School in Minneapolis trapped students and staff inside the church as they prayed by barricading the doors before opening fire, police said.
He was later found dead, police sources told the Post
Robin Westman, in his twenties, opened fire through the stained-glass windows of the Annunciation Catholic Church during a back-to-school mass filled with children around 8:30 a.m. Wednesday.
Police are investigating whether a 20-minute YouTube video shared on an account hours before the shooting is linked to Westman.
In the video, a hand slowly turns the pages of a red notebook, resting on what appear to be firearm schematics.
Each page is filled with impenetrable handwritten scribbles, an occasional plume of smoke visible at the bottom of the screen while the person turning the pages coughs and sometimes laughs maniacally.
Other videos show an obsession with mass murderers, including Sandy Hook shooter Adam Lanza.
Westman, who died at the scene from a self-inflicted gunshot wound, was armed with a rifle, a shotgun, and a handgun. The shooter was unknown to law enforcement, Minneapolis Police Chief Brian O'Hara told reporters at a news conference.
Videos posted on YouTube showed several weapons, including a semi-automatic rifle and a shotgun. The magazines were scrawled with "For the children" and "Kill Donald Trump."
